Call me a geek, but this image captures a thing of beauty. 48 terrabites of RAID level 6 beauty, if anyone is counting.
We just installed our newest, under the hood upgrade to Wide Eye’s post production facility in Boise. It’s a shared media server that feeds HD and 2K footage to our three Premier Pro edit suites– which have all undergone complete upgrades as well. In terms of hardware, it’s an across the board all new scene here at Wide Eye… and we’re pretty excited about it! The thing that’ll really help me sleep better at night, though, is with this new media RAID we now have two RAID protected media arrays. So we have redundant backup for our redundant media array. I couldn’t be happier.
I never thought I’d get excited about things like media servers, redundant backup, edit computers and cloud based software. But, here I am, writing a blog article about it. Okay, you can call me a geek.

Edit 1 at Wide Eye Productions, one of three edit suites that have undergone across the board hardware and software upgrades. Our suites now run the latest Adobe cloud software, including Premier Pro for editing.

Under the hood, Wide Eye’s server closet containing two MaxxRAID arrays with one 48 TB RAID and another 16 TB backup RAID. Yes, it’s a thing of beauty!
